Yarn Bomb Projects that have inspired us

We thought we would share some other Irish Yarn Bomb projects that inspired us!

Molly Malone was yarn bombed in 2012.

Hundreds of Galway children took part in a project in 2012 to cover the Galway Hooker sculpture.

The Trinity college Pomodoro Sculpture (outside the Berkley Library) was given an unconventional yarn bombing in February.

The Casino at Marino have been busy Yarn Bombing all through Heritage Week. You can see more of their pictures on their Facebook or Twitter page.

Our Yarn Bomb!

A little while ago we turned our hands to some knitting as part of our Appreciation of Irish Culture Module. Surprisingly, no one wants to stop knitting so we’ve decided to yarn bomb something…. although we’re not sure what we’re going to yarn bomb yet.

Congratulations!

This year our course has had a great number of successful students. In this post we would like to congratulate all of our trainees who have succeeded in gaining entrance to third level Universities, Colleges and VECs. Well done to Colin who is off to the UCD access programme, Tina who is going to take up a place in the Trinity Access Programme, Lynda who is starting a BA in Political Science and Geography in Trinity College, Dublin, Gina who is starting hairdressing Colaiste Dhulaig and Aoife who is starting a Digital Marketing Springboard course. We were also delighted to hear that Terence from last year’s course is starting a Business and Commerce degree at Trinity College.

Well done and we wish you all the best in your new courses!

We are recruiting

We are recruiting for this year’s class. You can put your name on the waiting list at your local FAS office. If you have any questions you can call the course coordinator Lisa Griffith at 01-6603770 or email lisagriffith [at] nationalprintmuseum.ie

Those who complete the course gain a FETAC level 5 certificate in Cultural and Heritage studies and gain 48 weeks work experience as a tour guide at the National Print Museum.

Interviews will be held Wednesday 4 of September but you must be on the waiting list to attend.

The course begins Monday 30 September and runs for 48 weeks.

Work Experience

We are out on work experience for the next three weeks. Aoife is at the Natural History Museum Store House, Tina is at Greenan Farm & Maze, Jason is at Powerscourt Gardens, Colin is undertaking a new project at the National Print Museum, Lynda is at Malahide Castle and Fergus is going to Kilmainham Gaol.
